Campaign Nightstands: Done!

Sorta.

They are painted! The hardware is polished! They’re even styled!

And they’re in the dining room.

We need a weekend to clear out the flat file in the office/boys room, where they are slated to go. But I was too excited to wait to show you. So, without further ado, let’s recap, shall we?

Here’s where we started: $30 thrift store nightstands.

And the hopes of doing something kinda (exactly) like this:

I did the whole sanding, priming and painting thing. They ended up needing four super thin coats of paint and, for good measure, I put on three coats of Polycrylic coating.

As for the hardware, a little elbow grease and a lot of Bar Keeper’s Friend took the pulls and trim pieces from here:

To here:

Not perfect, but I like a little bit of the tarnish hanging around to make it more authentic and less bad 90s brass.

One more thing I did was another tip I learned from my Dad. The drawers were sticking a bit—partly the new paint, partly the old, not exactly top quality construction—so I took a tealight candle and rubbed the rails and the grooves of the drawer with wax. I wouldn’t exactly say it’s running like ball bearings or anything, but it definitely helped.

And voila.

They are green, but I love ‘em! Almost too much to put a Playstation on…

I did a little Craigslist shopping on Friday evening for my next project… what could it be???

How have I missed this show? Maybe because my budget is slightly smaller? I’ll have to look it up. I’ve been addicted to Sarah’s Summer House and Secrets of a Stylist, lately.

I love these!! The hardware and paint color you picked is great! I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the name of the thrift store you got them at? I would love to see what else they have!

Thanks, Traci! I found them at the flea market on the NE corner of Buford Hwy. and Clairmont Road. I don’t know the name, but they always have tons of furniture out in the parking lot. It’s definitely a “diamond in the rough” kind of place. Good luck!

I just came across this blog post. I had the exact green campaign desk and trundle bed to match your dressers when I was a kid. (Yup. I am old now.) In fact, they are still at my mom’s house in their original condition! Maybe I should give them another look :)

I know this is a totally late post, and by the way; AMAZING WORK, BRAVO!!

Silly question, you happen to know where the “zombie” print came from? I’m not a huge fan, but my sig would LOVE LOVE it, thus making me a fan! Great way to meet in the middle for his and hers! I’m thinking bedroom. Fun!
