So… the guest room is one of the few full rooms I’ve done a “tour” of on this blog. But it’s also a work in progress (just like everything in life, really), and I am itching for a change.
I’ve been wanting to get a proper bed in there, and a few weeks ago I found a great deal on a Jenny Lind bed on Craigslist. I had been debating between that and upholstering a headboard myself, but something about the idea of the wood appealed to me. And honestly, the good deal appealed to me too. I am my grandmother’s child.
So, here are all the elements currently in the room that I’d like to keep around.
The bed and the etagere will likely undergo some sort of makeover for the new room, but in what form I do not yet know. Right now I’d like to sand down the bed to the raw wood, similar to this chair we saw in Savannah last year:
Is this as simple as it seems?
While looking for inspiration across the interwebs, my decor direction took two distinctly different paths. Let’s call the first one Boho Chill. (Just click on the board to see it bigger.)
What’s working for me: Bold, ethnic pattern taking the lead against a pale, soothing wall. Gold accents in the mirrors, lamps, wall art. Mix of stained and painted furniture. Modern touches (like the cowhide chair, and the lamps in the bottom three photos) mixed in.
What’s holding me back: The wall color is so soothing it’s easy listening. The color schemes seem to all rely on the print. I am not all that boho. Seriously, I bought a maxi dress last week and Taylor laughed me right out of the Widespread Panic show.
What say you? How do you feel about this? Would you like to sleep in this room? Don’t let the fact that there might be quiche in the morning sway you.
And come back later for the next look…
