TV Blueprints
Did you hear Sherwood Schwartz died this weekend? He created The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island and many other rush party skits. And through this retrospective on the Brady house, I came across the work of Mark Bennett, an architect and artist who creates blueprints of TV and movie homes.
Here’s Mike and Carol Brady’s house:
You can practically smell Alice’s pork chops.
George and Weezie’s deeeeluxe apartment in the sky:
Gilligan’s Isle:
I thought this one was pretty clever:
There were 2 Darrins, but only one house:
The Flintstones and the Jetsons:
Even a little something for the Star Wars fans:
Aren’t these so much fun? I bet I could do one of the Full House house with one hand tied around my back.
Here’s a bio of Mark Bennett (he’s from Chattanooga!) and a link to his (out of print) book. There are even lithographs for sale (and a few more fantasy homes) here. (Also, I like parentheses.)
What TV show, movie, book or other fictional house plan would you like to see?

I love Lily (and Rupert’s) posh Plaza penthouse on Gossip Girl. Sign me up, please (and leave Kelly Rutherford’s wardrobe for me, while you’re at it). A blueprint of the Bluth family “model home” (Arrested Development) would be suitable for framing for an office full of whimsy. Maybe the loft from the original Real World. Any Real World home, actually, because I’d love to see the space they portion out for the production crew. Also, Schwartz was 94. Not a bad life.
The Bluth home would be funny. I also saw “The Office” layouts (though not by this guy)—that would be a good one.
We’ve also been re-watching “The Wire.” I think a blueprint of the Low Rises with the orange sofa in the courtyard would be priceless.
I saw this book at a bookstore years ago and didn’t buy it. Still regret that. I tried for years to work out the Brady Bunch floorplan in my head. I LOVE that someone did it for me!
Some of the used book prices on Amazon seemed reasonable if you still want a copy! And I used to dream of the Bradys adopting me a’la cousin Oliver.
I could do the Full House house hogtied, I’m fairly certain
.
I would love to see a blueprint for Tara from Gone With the WInd. I love antebellum homes and always dreamed of owning one since I was a little girl.
What a great idea! Twelve Oaks would be good too…
I so LOVE the Brady Bunch house.
I would love to see the floor plans for the ranch house in the original Parent Trap with Brian Kieth and Maureen O’Hara…
Yes! That is seriously one of my all-time favorite movies! Hooked on Houses did a great breakdown of it.
