Table for 4

I like having people over. Really I do. I just keep forgetting this fact. Taylor and I are resolved to have people over more often. I mean, we have enough dishes. So, when the opportunity to hang out with some fun friends I don’t get to see often enough popped up last week, I thought—let’s cook dinner for them! And by “let’s cook” it means “I’ll go to the store and clean and make everything look cute and Taylor will cook.” I like this plan.

Cheese and fruit for apps. The jar is filled with pistachios and honey—a “recipe” I stole from the mad talented Erika (or was it the mad talented Becky?). Either way, those gals are hostesses with the mostessess. I’m scared to have them over because I’ll have to serve them something that I didn’t steal from one of their dinner parties. I hope they like Honey Nut Cheerios.

$10 flowers from Publix? Check.

Matchy matchy napkins? Check.

You caught me. I didn’t iron the tablecloth.

No food pictures due to wine and talking. So sorry.

So, Crate & Barrel just notified me that my drinking glasses are being discontinued. I have 12 of them. Actually, 24 of them. (Two different sizes.) Yet, I feel panicked that I have to go purchase a back-up set. Hello, Hoarderdom. Please tell me this is unnecessary.

Finally, remember this little guy?

Well, it made it to its new home in Virginia. And found a friend!

Winner Chaaron sent me this pic of the footstool safe and sound with the cutest guard-dog ever, Manny!

Oh, and remember the succulent I was so excited about?

Just as I feared.

Suckulent.

Can’t win ‘em all.

That’s what I thought…but when I repotted it and mixed it with other soil, I thought I had to at least add a LITTLE water to get it to stick together (or whatever it’s supposed to do.) I guess that was a bad move, huh?

Your table setting is beautiful! I love the sunflowers.

I’m not trying to enable you, but I have the same fear about my drinking glasses. If I found out that mine were being discontinued, I’d also need someone to tell me not to buy more.

I’m with you – I kill succulents. I always feel like they need a little water and I’m always always wrong.

It was fun to see Manny’s little face on a blog other than my own!

I second your emotion on the backup drinking glasses. We broke a wine glass once and I rushed to C&B that very afternoon to ensure I could still get one (and mine weren’t even discontinued)!!

Do you have an outlet around you? Things end up there for a while if you ever get into a snag.

Looks like a fun party! :-)

Hahaha…the ‘suckulent’ comment made me laugh out out. I love succulents, and I have definitely lost a few along the way so I can relate. Thanks for the laugh.

Thanks, Shelby! They are tricky little boogers, aren’t they? Best of luck to ya.
