Friday Five: Sconces

I have discovered one drawback to my love of lamps.

A lack of sconces in my life.

Here are five pretty ones that are making me rethink my strategy.

1. Hannah sconce. Vaguely reminiscent of Jenny’s Gossip Girl sconces, but a little more wrapped up in a bow. Meaning, neater, I suppose. I would love these flanking a big ol’ mirror, or on a small wall section in a large room for some ambient lighting.

2. Addison Sconce  Very clean and simple, two of these would look gorgeous on either side of the medicine cabinet. Preferably in a bathroom with carrera marble and really fluffy towels. Oooh, and lavender bath salts.

3. Randoph 2 Arm Gold Leaf sconce. These remind me a bit of Jonathan Adler’s Ventana lighting, but a little more streamlined and utilitarian. (I really dig the Ventana table lamps, fwiw.) In my dream sconce house, I’d put these on the landing of the stairs, between the first and second floors.

4. Modern Chrome Arc Sconce. Typically I’m not a huge chrome fan, but I loved the graceful and exaggerated swan neck. I think I’ll stick these in the manly, modern study, flanking a pair of Wassily chairs.

5. Globe Wall sconces in Antique Brass. Um. These? Are FIFTEEN DOLLARS. The other 4 are all well over $200. So these don’t have to even live in my fake sconce house, they can live in my real one. Once I get rid of some lamps. Anyway, these are technically outdoor fixtures, but I don’t see why they have to be. They’d look great in a long, narrow hallway, or with a dim enough bulb, they might even be cute bedside lamps in this room.

Are you a sconce fan? How about a scone fan?

Have a great weekend, pals.

I love the Addison sconce, but am having trouble with the $250 price tag. We really need to redo our master bath.

I like a sconce, sure. But a scone is something I can really get behind.

Please tell me you’ve had the Ginger Cinnamon scone at Alon’s. Perfection.
