Work Week

September 27, 2011
by thenestinggame

In the pages of those notebooks, my friends, are 7 years and 7 months of work. Next week, I start a new job at a new agency.

But this week?

I’m off. And I’m getting down to business at home.

On the list?

Plant a fall container garden. (I do not know how to do this.)

Paint Sadie’s/the guest room. (Taylor thinks I do not know how to do this.)

Make DIY Roman Shades (I seriously do not know how to do this, but I scored a sweet Scoutmob deal on some fabric and trim.)

{Little Green Notebook}

Add a house tour page to the blog.

{suitably cool}

Shop for homeowner’s insurance.

(Sounds dreadful, but isn’t the map pretty?)

Take a walk every day.

Procure a fabulous fall wardrobe.

Put together our wedding album and submit it to Style Me Pretty.

{pinhole press}

Finish this book.

Get my hair cut.

{alexa chung}

Yeah. I’m pretty sure this to-do list will last me 4 days. Heck, 4 MONTHS. I’ll keep you posted.

And last but not least…

…get a new notebook.

{miquelrius – best notebooks ever! from Spain!}

    Love the notebook and jealous that you are so organized that you have them all saved!

    Mr. Glib knows how to plant a container garden – shoot him an email?

    Once you are finished w FNL, read Bissinger’s “Three Nights in August,” which is even better. Brilliantly paced. Which is odd to say for non-fiction, and yet supes true.

      Is the “august” book about the Cards/Larussa? I can vaguely picture the cover in my head.

      Aaaaaannd, I pitched all those notebooks after I took the photo. Breaking free from emotional work baggage, I suppose. Although now it will be tougher to recycle ideas!

    Ambitious girl! Love projects.
    You can also purchase an instant fall container garden at Home Depot – just saying.
    Lots of luck on new position.

      I like instant… I may go talk to the nice people at Pike’s up the street. I have coupons too.

    hey – I just noticed that when you reference other sites and I click their links, I’m redirected to their pages in your window rather than opening a new window. Are you able to do the whole “target_blank” thing in the HTML so I will still keep your page open?

      Look at you, Ms. HTML! I think I can select “open links in new window”. I usually just command+click to open links in another window, but I will start checking the box for the convenience of my readers!

    I took that exact same picture of Alexa Chung the last time I got my hair cut. Which makes sense since you and I have almost identical heads of hair! Oh, wait…

      This is hilarious. How did that work out?

        It was pretty good. Because I’m a moron, I blow dry my naturally wavy hair straight and then make waves in it with my straightening iron. It’s a total cluster if irrationality.

    Best of luck in your new job!

    Right now, you’re in that sweetest time (at least, according to Seinfeld) — the time between getting a job and starting a job. Enjoy!

    And don’t beat yourself up trying to do everything on your to-do list. The ONE thing to NOT omit, though = a daily walk!

    Hi Molly!
    I found your site a few months back and I have been loving it! This post got me for 2 reasons – 1) The Moody Glam room photos! I have been collecting room inspiration photos for when I move back to the U.S. and this is exactly what I have had in my mind. Thank you! and 2) The notebooks from Spain. I live in Madrid and carry a notebook around with me everywhere! I haven’t noticed this brand, but will now be on the look out!
    Good luck with the new job!

      Thank you Kristen! I love your blog name—I have a “depressing airplane songs” playlist I like to listen to brood while I fly. :)
      Glad you like the Moody Glam board–thanks! I painted the room this weekend and can’t wait to show it to the blog world!
      Love that you’re in Spain. My Dad’s side of the family is from Spain and I spent my summers growing up near Soria. I am hoping to go back next summer!
      Thanks for dropping by!
