Living Room and Learn

First things first. I started a Facebook page for The Nesting Game. Besides posts, I’ll be putting up links and some bonus photos. If you like that sort of thing, it would be fabulous if you Liked the page. I will be better at this than Twitter. Promise.

Okay. So, remember when we found this painting at a thrift store?

And I painted the frame and switched up the mat?

Aaaaand….it was fine.

But then I compared it to this piece I saw on Design*Sponge.

And then I sort of hated the gray mat.

Then I REALLY hated it.

Hated it just as much as I hate fresh tomatoes, reggae music, scraping teeth against a popsicle stick,  pants that are too short, stand-up comedy on TV, hot hotel rooms, using “less” when you should use “fewer,” and Jägermeister.

Needless to say, a lot.

And after living with it hating it for awhile, I finally changed the mat back to white.

It is much, much better.

For now.

I also did a little furniture switcherooing. (Technical decorating term.)

The navy wing chair was always kind of a problem. It’s so tall that it always felt like it was in the way.

So, on a whim I decided to put it beside the round table and break up the pair of dining room chairs that were there. From this:

To this:

I like the colors. And I like having the big wing chair beside the table. It makes a good reading nook. Not sure if I’m sold on the two vastly different scales, however.

And, for now, the second dining chair is where the navy chair was. Again…not perfect, but I do like how the smaller chair opens up the space a bit more. Maybe I’ll get my slipper chair after all.

So those are some lessons learned in the Living Room. More to come very soon. I finally tackled the art-over-the-sofa issue.

For now.

Like TNG on Facebook, k? Thanks!

Don’t you mean purple wing-backed chair?

Taylor, you beat me to it. I, however, can confidently say it is “Jägermeister” after slugging down about 47 shots on November 27. Uggggggghhhhhh.

I like the painting with the gray mat. But you are right, I like the white mat even more.

I have always loved that BLUE chair! How can you hate fresh tomatoes? That’s just crazy talk.

I have tried so hard to remedy this tomato problem, but I’m afraid it’s terminal.
