Friday Five: Chip It
I came across the Sherwin-Williams Chip It app this week. I thought, “Yeah, yeah, it matches paint colors to any photo. Don’t they all?” But this one is pretty cool. Maybe it’s just because technology has come a long way since these things started coming out. But there’s a fun little bookmarklet that works in the same way the Pin It bookmarklet does. It recognizes the image, then you hover over it and it pulls the colors out of the image and gives you corresponding Sherwin Williams paint colors right in the browser window, like so:
Clearly you can use Chip It to find paint colors from any awesome dream room you’ve pinned, or fabric swatches or pieces of art.
But I thought it might be fun to go a little off the radar for some more unusual palettes.
Here’s the hotel we stayed for our honeymoon. You know, while this was happening back home.
How about favorite childhood toys? I had a mini Friendship bear, but my cousin had the full size Funshine bear (simply called “Care Bear” but with a cute British accent) and it went everywhere.
Favorite stores? I am a sucker for some Tory Burch glam. This palette is making me really happy.
Who says reality stars don’t have good taste? Here’s RHOBH Lisa Vanderpump, pretty in peach, with Ken’s mullet. If you would like to paint your bedroom the color of Ken’s mullet, go with Sherwin Williams Angora.
My ONE beef with Chip It? See in the screen shot above where it says “More Colors”? When you expand it to 10, it gives you the option to see “Less Colors”. FEWER, PEOPLE! It’s a real word that people will understand! Occupy Fewer! Give Fewer a Chance! Aahahahahahahaha! Drives me nuts.
What’s up with your weekend? I have a photography class field trip on Saturday morning and hopefully an early dinner with our friends who have a long layover on the way back from climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Crazy, right?
