Casa de Sweazy
Melissa has gorgeous curly hair and legs for days. She is an insanely talented photographer. An elegant writer whose screenplay just WON the short screenplay competition at the Vail Film Festival. She’s married to a handsome musician and craftsman. Has a charming daughter and a sweet baby boy. And she gets to live here.
“Gets to” probably isn’t right term. DESERVES to. See, Melissa (a college friend of mine) and her husband Caleb designed and remodeled their home themselves.
Melissa’s been documenting their renovation over the past couple of years on her blog, Thoroughly Modern Medusa. She posted these pictures just yesterday and I had to share them. The local Memphis paper came out to do a story, so consider this a sneak peak. I, for one, can’t wait to see more.
I can’t decide what my favorite part is: the corner fireplace, the ombre stairs(!), the modern Chesterfield, the card catalog workstation, the bar…
What’s yours?

While we’re in Memphis, now’d be a good time to introduce you to Memphis-based March sponsor Gurley Gurl Design. Kim Gurley’s Etsy shop is stocked chock-full of cheeky gifts for home, baby and parties—either your own or someone else’s. I definitely foresee stocking up on her awesome onesie collection for the many babies in my life. Run, don’t walk, to give GurleyGurl a peek.

Love it all. Wild with envy. If I had to pick, I’d go for the card-catalog workstation (no surprise, given my librarian lineage).
I see it coming in handy for Lego storage…
We painted our stair treads moss green in old house, and it always made me happy. I highly recommend it. An easy to-do and it looks great.
The fireplace AND the stair case! My GOODNESS! I love it! Now if only I could convince the fiance to one day do that to our staircase…hmmmm
ombre stairs?? bestill my heart!
Whatever! Love this home! Jealous! Added your blog to my blogroll. Shall become regular reading. Beautiful!!
Thanks, Kelly! Glad to have you around!
Thanks for the GurleyGirl recommendation! I’m totally going to buy some of those adorable onesies!
