Friday Five: Grab Bag

Oy. OY! (Remember that scene in Bridget Jones’ Diary? It’s been going through my head a lot lately.) Because that? Is his name.

Can you tell it’s been a long week?

I came home last night with a crushing migraine and went to lay down for 10 minutes at 8pm and woke up at 1. Whoops. I’ve skipped dinner the past 2 nights in a row. On the upside, I’ve lost 2 pounds.

All that to say, I have no proper Friday Five this week. So let’s just go with 5 things that are running, jumping and skipping through my mind.

1. This week on Curbly I launched the “Does It Work?” Challenge. I tried out a bunch of household tips and tricks to see if they really worked. Some did, some didn’t. Check ‘em out:

Cleaning glass with newspaper and coffee filters

Polishing silver with baking soda

Cleaning floors with wax paper

Greasing votive candleholders with cooking spray

Removing dishwasher stains with lemonade mix.

2. Taylor and I have been thinking a lot about adding a deck to our house. We sketched it out last weekend and are calling to get estimates over the next few weeks. So excited about this!

3. This weekend’s misson is to clean out and organize our basement. I am dreading and looking forward to it all at the same time. There will be a lot of me hemming and hawing about what to pitch. Good times.

4. Super proud of and happy for my friend Krista and her boyfriend Matt! Matt’s furniture company, Field Day, is getting TONS of press for his inventive furniture design. I’m thrilled to have them as a sponsor, too! This is the envelope chest, inspired by a string envelope closure. GENIUS! Even Herman Miller (yes, that Herman Miller) thinks so and named Field Day a best of the web this week.

5. Even though spring just arrived, I’m counting down to kicking off summer with my besties and a margarita at this resort in Mexico.

Happy Friday, Friends! Have a great weekend.

I can so relate to what migraine does to plans. Have had them for years and in the past year they’ve gotten really frequent (weekly). About a month ago decided to try cutting back on gluten (after quite a few people had suggested there might be a connection to my migraines), and haven’t had one since (unless I eat gluten). Don’t know if that’s the thing for everyone with migraine, but thought I’d mention it. Hope you can rest up in between that garage cleaning!
