Friday Five: Teux Deux List
Have you heard of Teux Deux?* It’s an extremely simple web-based calendar. I’ve been using it for a couple months after hearing about it at Alt and absolutely love it!
Basically, you type in the things you need to do on any given day, then if you DON’T do it, it just moves that entry on to the next day. To me, that’s motivating because I hate to see things stay on there for too many days.
There’s also a Someday column, which is a little lower pressure. Here I put things that I intend to do, but don’t have a pressing timeline.
So, to keep myself MORE motivated, here are 5 things that are somewhere on my Teux Deux list. Which should I tackle first?
1. Ironing board project
We inherited a grubby ironing board. However, it’s full-sized, compared to my miniature one from apartment days. I have plans to restore it to its former glory. Downside is, I may have to actually iron something.
2. Paint Drawers
I spied this idea on Pinterest. I’ve been meaning to line our 4 kitchen drawers with some pretty paper and Modpodge. (In fact, I once bought some for this project but ended up using it on these trays.) Now I think I’m on Team Paint. Downside to this? Not being able to use our drawers for several days… maybe even a week.
3. Update advertising portfolio
A couple years ago, Taylor designed this logo for me. It is so perfect, you don’t even know. See, I write my name CONSTANTLY. Like, every handout, notebook page, post-it, is doodled with “Molly.” Simultaneously, I am on the quest to craft the perfect “M.” And, my maiden name also starts with “M”, so I had plenty of reasons to practice. So this logo—the Ms, the fact that it looks doodled/written, and I’m a WRITER…well, it was just dandy. And then I got married. So, now my logo is out-of-date and my work needs a major update too. Add this to the fact that iWeb/iDisk/MobileMe–which I used to create my existing site–is going away and ugh. I hate technology sometimes. Speaking of….
4. Figure out what to do with photo sharing
I have been using Mobile Me’s gallery to upload photos to the web and share them with family and friends. I like that nobody has to register for anything to see them. I can just send the link, they click, boom. Photos. Bonus is it’s easy to upload from iPhoto. What do you use that’s just as simple? I’ve heard about SmugMug, also thought about Picasa (though I believe you need a Google ID to view photos, right?). I know Flickr is a paid service—is it worth it? Let me know what you like! I have to figure this out soonish.
5. Fitted sheet video
Ok. I’m gonna brag for a second here. I’m REALLY good at folding a fitted sheet. And I’ve been wanting to make a video of how I do it so you can be really good at it too. But I’ve yet to make it. So I’m putting it out there so that I will have to be accountable and actually make the video!
Whew. That’s a lot. But now I can at least go to my Teux Deux list and cross off the “Friday Five post” item. On to the next thing!
Have a great weekend! The kids are heading in for a week for spring break, and Taylor’s folks are coming too. It should be a fun time at our house! Hope you’ve got some good stuff planned, too.
