Wedding Week: The Wedding Party

Today is our anniversary! Yep, one year as a Mr. and Mrs.

I realized that I’d never really shared any wedding photos on the blog, so to make up for that you’re getting an entire week of them! Five whole days of wedding goodness.

First up, wedding attire.

I always knew I wanted a v-neck dress with straps. I found this one at an Atlanta bridal store called New Natalie’s. It’s not a fancy place, but it was very low pressure and felt like me. I first tried on this dress when I went with my maid of honor Leslie and bridesmaid Angie, then went back a couple weeks later with my Mom and decided to “say yes to the dress.” (No, I did not go to Bridals by Lori, but I cannot help but watch that show every Friday night. Taylor loves it…)

All the girls got ready together in my hotel suite. It was so fun getting ready together. Definitely one of my favorite memories of the day. My shoes were a low, kitten heel which ended up being very comfortable. I liked how the folds of the rosettes mimicked the folds in my dress, though I really didn’t notice that until my wedding day. Serendipity. Of course they were BLACK by the end of the evening. I wore my grandmother’s diamond earrings as my something borrowed.

Now for the gentlemen. Taylor and I decided on navy suits instead of tuxedos. He picked out gray chambray ties from J.Crew for himself and the adult groomsmen, and blue plaid Crewcuts ties for the boys. I think they all looked smashing.

I had two hair looks for the day. I started with a “messy side bun”. Then, for most of the photos and the reception, I wore a gardenia in my hair. For the ceremony, I wore a Spanish mantilla that’s been in my family for years and years. It was my something old.

Here you can see our ensembles. And some leaves. Spring. Rebirth. New life. No heads. Something like that.

This is the moment when we first saw each other. It was sweet. We just laughed. It’s pretty much what we do.

Here is our above-average looking wedding party.

The ladies wore blue bridesmaid dresses from Ann Taylor in their choice of three necklines with navy satin heels. I gave each of my friends a vintage coral brooch to wear on their sash. I found most of them on Ruby Lane and I think one or two on ebay.

A spiffy bunch, no? I am smitten.

Our lovely photos were shot by Julia Robbs with Our Labor of Love. It’s funny, Our Labor of Love was basically my dream photographer and completely out of the realm of budgetary possibility. Then we met Julia and loved her and booked her. And then she started shooting for Our Labor of Love. So, in the end, we got Our Labor of Love to shoot our wedding!

Coming up for the rest of Wedding Week:

Tuesday – Invitations and Programs

Wednesday – DIY Details Part 1

Thursday – DIY Details Part 2

Friday – Party Time!

Please come back for more! (It’s an open bar, you know…)

My o My! How time slips away so quickly. It seem to me that this was about 3 or4 weeks ago not 1 year. Have a great anniversary and I must say that both of you stay very busy with your jobs and Taylor with the soccer and travel & then Molly with the Blog etc. Keep it up and it also seems like you are also having a good time which is also very important, always remember to laugh and have a good time. That was a great weekend and even all our friends here still mention the Wedding and how they all had a great time. Our only complaint is that it went by so quickly that it was like a blink of the eye and it was over, but we had a great time. Happy Anniversary and many many more.

Thank you! I know yours will be gorgeous too! My advice would be to let it all go Friday morning (provided the wedding is Saturday) and just enjoy whatever happens. Don’t sweat the details at that point.

Details such as one stupid friend forgetting a key part of her bridesmaid dress.

        Still swathed in guilt.

I also can’t believe this was a year ago!

The sash thing totally worked out! It was funny, though. :)
