Friday Five: Google Earth Candids

How cool is Google Earth? Seriously, if it had been around in the 90s, it would have saved me and my girlfriends hours in high school as we drove around town with the boys’ school directory, stalking our crushes’ homes. One time we got caught and his mom invited us in for a Coke.

Taylor sent me a link to this site: Montreal artist Jon Raufman has literally combed through the Earth–Google Earth–to find unusual photographs captured by the roving Google cameras. There are dozens on the site, but here are my five faves.

This last one kind of punched me in the gut. Whoever lives here, on the freaking sidewalk, has enough pride and care to decorate. We are so, so lucky.

There is a lot of surprise and delight at 9 Eyes. Lots of women with their behinds hanging out, people flipping the bird, people falling down or getting arrested, car accidents, animals going nuts. It’s basically a still-photo Tosh.O. I dare you to look away.

Changing the subject, Rene at Cottage and Vine did the kindest feature on The Nesting Game today. What a nice surprise! I love reading her blog—she has such great taste.

Have a good weekend! I will be making more bias tape for my final sewing class, folding laundry and possibly attending my favorite Atlanta spring fling, the Inman Park Festival. Whatever you have on your agenda, I hope it’s amazeballs.

Google Earth is amazing–because the planet is amazing. People are amazing. I hope I never stop being amazed at the world. Yeah, that set up on the street is such a testament to what it means to be human. It gets me in both a good and bad way. Thank you for sharing it.

If your the Google truck driver, apparently you get flicked off a lot. Yet somehow this has nothing to do with road rage.
