Searching Pinterest for Paint Colors
One of the hardest decisions when it comes to decorating is choosing paint colors. We’ve had pretty good luck around here, with only 1 room that I’d consider a bust. It’s tough to picture what your walls are going to look like from an itty bitty square!
So one way I’ve found that helps me envision colors in a space is to look them up on Pinterest or Google. It is a great way to see what the color looks like in a real room, instead of the “virtual” paint job that comes in the paint brochure.
Here’s Benjamin Moore Putnam Ivory:
Valspar Aqua Glow in a gorgeous nursery from Lay Baby Lay. (Do yourself a favor and check out the whole lovely room.)
Here’s Valspar’s Sassy Green:
I love this shade from Olympic called Quill.

Coral Crescent by Valspar seems like a pretty bold choice. It’s the kind of color that might be good to see “in real life” before you pick up a quart for yourself. I think this is a fun makeover, though. Sara couldn’t paint her walls so she painted her dresser instead! I see those French dressers all the time and have a hard time passing them by! But I do because I have nowhere to put one.
So the next time you’re deciding on paint colors, I definitely recommend you let your fingers do the walking, as they used to say. And yeah, the color isn’t going to look exactly the same in your house with different lighting, furniture, etc. but it’s a great way to help avoid a mistake like my living room. (Way too pink… Yes, Taylor, you told me so.)

What a great idea! Our family room is painted putnam ivory and its gorgeous in person, but I almost overlooked it as a paint swatch as it seems “blah”.
There is also a neat blog called favoritepaintcolors that shows painted rooms so you get a good idea of the color in use.
I meant to mention that site! It’s a great resource. Thanks for sharing.
