Spot the difference
Can you spot the difference between these two pictures?
Look a little closer.
Yeah, yeah, the plant’s different. That’s not what I’m talking about. I painted the picture frame!
I admit, that the gold *might* look better in the photos above. They’re better shots to begin with. But trust me, the gold on the botanical frames is really cheap looking in person. You can tell a little more in the photos below.
I dug into my awesome stash of My Color by Pantone Paints and chose Whitecap Grey. It’s the really creamy greige on the bottom left.
I painted both frames, although I don’t have the purple one anywhere yet.
A little “learn the hard way” tip: I taped off the glass to paint the frames (since the backs were sealed) and in my hurry to remove the tape after my final coat, some of the paint peeled off the inside rim. Grrrrrrr. On the second one I used an exacto knife to loosen the seal.
I knew better. Don’t be in a hurry. Don’t end up in a bathhouse with Charlie Sheen.
Have a stellar weekend, my friends!
.

“Greige.” That’s a perfect description of that family of colors. I’m always trying to pawn greige off as taupe or cool grey or yellowy grey. Nice one. Also, exactoing the edge of the masking tape is a good tip, but generally, I never have much luck with tape.
Where do you purchase My Color paints? Next week my project is painting frames!
Perfect timing!
My Color paints are sold at Lowe’s. But depending on your frames, spray paint may be an easier route! Just stay away from Bill’s car.
How did you like the Pantone paint? I’ve been wanting to try that out on something. Fab picture btw, I love your styling!
I am liking the gray color better!
looks awesome!
and yeah, i learned from little green notebook, its much easier to just not tape, and use a razor blade to get your excess paint off in the end! that way, you end up making sure the entire frame is painted, and razoring off the excess is a lot easier than touching up tiny spots you missed because of the tape!
