Nest Tour: Guest Room to Baby’s Room
Guest Room to Baby’s Room
This room went from Moody Glam to Baby Sweet. I’ll show you the After and the After the After.
First, this room got a Moody Glam makeover, using nearly all the same elements from before and a gallon of Benjamin Moore Hale Navy paint. The brass lamp you can barely see peeking out from the far side of the bed came from a thrift store and I gave it a new black barrel shade. I butted up 2 smaller matching oriental rugs to make one bigger area rug.
We stripped the Jenny Lind bedframe down to the raw wood, gave it a coat of wax and called it a day… six weeks later.
I bought a small table to use as a nightstand and painted it Martha Stewart’s Vermilion. I liked how it was spindle-y too. This art piece and the elephant piece over the bed are by the one and only Taylor Crawford.
I also made the roman shades using the plastic mini-blinds that were already there.
And I searched the world over for a white horse named Leeroy Jenkins.
This room was featured as a Before & After on Design*Sponge. How ’bout that?
THEN, when we found out we were expecting Townes, we switched up a few things.
The navy walls stayed. I used the fabric on the chair pillow (Waverly Santa Maria Desert) as a jumping off point and added white furniture and yellow, turquoise and red accents.
We needed to keep a bed in here for Sadie and other guests, so we made it work with sconces and a built-in nightstand shelf.
The red spindle table stuck around.
As did the dresser, but with a new paint job.
We bought a shallow bookshelf from Pottery Barn kids that fits perfectly in the otherwise unused space behind the door. The print is by Emily McDowell.
And I did a few sewing projects, like the pillows on the chair and the bed, the ottoman slip cover and the adjustable crib skirt panels.
Well, this is the REAL finished product:
