Sweetwater Creek State Park

October 17, 2011

This could not have been a more perfect weekend. The weather was gorgeous. The kids were in town. I hosted wine book club. (We read this, which I give a 7 out of 10.) I ate mellowcreme pumpkins, backyard firepit s’mores AND homemade rice krispie treats. All the stars aligned, no doubt.

Part of the awesomeness was visiting Sweetwater Creek State Park for a little hike. Now, I am not exactly a nature girl, but sunny, 70 degree weather, shady trees and a meandering creek? Well, that I can get behind. Plus, I had the new camera to test drive.

So, please forgive the lack of nesting for some cute family shots in the great outdoors.

Starting off…

Sadie already taking a break. Girl after my own heart…

Taylor asking me if I’m going to stop for pictures every 10 feet…

Yeah, basically.

The creek is filled with these giant rocks. In creek world, I’m sure they are just normal rocks

. We walked probably a half mile down the creek bed, hopping from rock to rock.

Blue was taking pictures, too.

Taylor art directed along the way.

Oh, the fun I missed as an only child…

Beck and Blue scaled the peaks.

Blue did a little cross-training.

I caught a few nature shots.

And some fridge-worthy closeups.

And while we were about 2-3 weeks early for peak leaf season, we did find one patch that was juuuuust right.

And yet, every time, Monday shows up right on schedule.

Hope you had a great weekend, too.
