Friday Five: Shutterbug

I got my new camera back in October. It’s a Canon T3i, in case you’re curious, and I usually shoot with a 50mm f1.8 lens. I had no clue how to use anything but the Auto setting until I started a photography class a local camera store. I took 2 6-week sessions and learned so much! I’m by no means a pro, or even a really good amateur, but it sure is fun to play around. Pretty much every photo on this blog since this post was taken with my new camera, but here are 5 favorites that I’ve never posted.

I took this one in St. Louis over Thanksgiving

. My Dad likes to take us to these simple, Italian delis on The Hill. This is Taylor’s Meatball sub and local brew.

This is our daredevil niece Emily taking a plunge into her grandmother’s pool in December. Honeybadger don’t care.

This is a completely overexposed shot of our kitchen sink. But I kinda liked it. As Bob Ross says, “We don’t have mistakes here, just happy accidents.”

I took this on our photo class field trip last week. (Yes, we do dorky things like field trips!) I love the light and all the textures of the metal, concrete and brick. It could make a neat large-scale photo.

Ok, true confession. I took this on my old point and shoot while we were on our honeymoon. These are the pool showers. And I’ll try to remember how pretty they were and how blue the sky was rather than the annoying kids who would turn them on and splash me and then leave them running after they jumped back in the pool. Get off my lawn!

Hooray for Friday, guys! We have the kids for this three day weekend and have tickets to the Circus! The trapeze artists are my favorite part. You’re never too old to enjoy the Circus, right?

OH my goodness! That shot of your niece jumping in the pool is spectacular! I love how you managed to get just her face in focus and the rest a wonderful motion blur

I couldn’t find an email address for you. I live in the same area and would like to get some specifics on the photography class. Thanks!
